Guide to Web Form responses after the expiry of the six-month processing mark

According to IRCC, 80% of applications that come from Express Entry are processed within six months. From the moment a complete application is submitted until an immigration officer makes a final decision, the processing time is calculated.

According to the most recent statistics, however, IRCC did not achieve the processing requirement of concluding 80% of all applications obtained through Express Entry within six months. Express Entry took eight months to complete in all. 60% of applications were finished within the six-month service standard, which can be used as an alternative measurement of processing timeframes.

What’s happening with my file?

What’s happening with my file is a common query at this point from candidates. The many methods for getting in touch with the IRCC and learning about the status are detailed here. Utilising the Web Form, also known as the Case Specific Enquiry or CSE, is one of the quickest ways to contact IRCC. It’s crucial to describe your case and include all pertinent information while speaking with the IRCC. If you don’t, you might get inaccurate information. The type of response you might get to your online form inquiry is illustrated below with several examples.

We appreciate you getting in touch with Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). We checked the data in the record, and we can vouch for the following:

  • The eligibility checks are still in effect.
  • The criminal history check is still in effect.
  • No action has been taken to begin the security background investigation.

While the processing periods may vary depending on the circumstances, we will use every available means to expedite the completion of your application. You may be certain that you’ll be informed as soon as a decision is made or if more information is required.

We checked the data in the record, and we can vouch for the following:

  • The eligibility is still in effect.
  • The investigation into criminal history is ongoing.
  • The background check for security is still valid.

Additionally, we checked the data on file and can vouch for the fact that:

  • The eligibility review is finished.
  • The security background check is accurate.
  • The criminal history check is reliable.

As the aforementioned instances show, it’s not always easy to fully comprehend a question and receive a clear answer;

  • Why is my file not working?
  • Is the review of my eligibility complete or ongoing?
  • My security screening was through, right?

Understanding web form responses

There are enough hints in web form responses, notwithstanding their ambiguity, to enable you determine the status of your application. Here are a few instances:

The applicant does not need to provide any additional information if the online form response indicates that a processing stage is currently valid. “Valid” means “For a document—legal, not expired, and accepted by IRCC.” Valid is frequently misunderstood to mean passed.

Similar to the above, it signifies that eligibility has been passed if the web form response reads, “Eligibility review has been met.”

If the response from the web form reads anything like this: “The responsible office is currently verifying whether your application meets the eligibility requirements under the immigration program for which you have applied.” It can be challenging to know for sure where the application stands. It’s a good sign that your eligibility has been approved if the web form response also says “The security background verification is valid,” as security screening often doesn’t begin until after eligibility review has been declared successful.
